Minister of Music

Mr. O'Berry began his ministry at Rock Spring Presbyterian Church as Interim Organist & Choirmaster in the fall of 2010. The Session was pleased to offer Joseph the permanent position of Minister of Music in August of 2011.

Joseph has always expressed a deep enthusiasm for music and has served as a church musician since 1998. In 2009 Joseph was offered full scholarship to attend Mercer University's Townsend School of Music where he continues his studies today, majoring in organ performance with supplementary studies in collaborative piano. Joseph studied organ for seven years with the late Dr. Robert Parris; he also received instruction from Dr. Timothy Albrecht and Camille Bishop.

By the age of twenty-three, Mr. O'Berry had mastered some of the most technically challenging repertoire in organ literature and recently received national recognition by placing second in the nation for the 2012 North American Classical Organist Competition.  Joseph has been a featured artist with members of the Jacksonville, Macon, and Atlanta Symphony Orchestras and is an avid recitalist, with upcoming performances in Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Canada, and Winston-Salem. In addition to his solo work, Mr. O'Berry is a creatively strong service player, improviser, and accompanist and sings for weekly Choral Evensong Services with the professional Schola at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, Georgia.

Joseph is an active member of The Association of Anglican Musicians, The American Guild of Organists, The Presbyterian Association of Musicians, and The Royal School of Church Music in America.  Joseph plans to complete his course work at Atlanta's Emory University in the fall of 2012 and subsequently pursue a Master's of Music degree in Organ Performance.
